Failure To Attend An Appointment (DNA)

If you no longer require your appointment, please phone to cancel it - someone else may need it!

Patients are asked to keep appointments promptly and to notify the surgery as soon as possible of a cancellation. Valuable surgery time is wasted by those patients who do not attend booked appointments.

How do I make an appointment?

All consultations are by appointment and should be made at Reception, by telephone 01359 230252 during opening hours, or online via the website. Please book well in advance for routine appointments. The receptionist will offer you the next available appointment, but if you feel your problem warrants an urgent appointment, the receptionist may offer you a next day or on the day appointment.

What if I want to request a visit?

Telephone 01359 230252 before 10am and ask the receptionist. The request will be passed to the duty doctor who may contact you and offer advice as well as discussing the visit. Alternatively the duty doctor may ask the receptionist to contact you confirming that your visit has been accepted.

Blood test appointments

There are limited appointments for blood tests each day which can be booked via reception with the Health Care Assistant. If the Health Care Assistants clinics are full you may be asked to attend the West Suffolk Hospital for your blood test.

APPOINTMENT TIPS

What if I want to talk to a doctor on the telephone?

Telephone 01359 230252 and ask to speak to the doctor. The doctors do make callbacks through the day around their surgeries, meetings and visits. However, due to the great demand for telephone callbacks it is not possible to try several times due to poor mobile phone signal etc.

GP+ Appointments

Suffolk GP+ is for people who urgently need a doctor's appointment or are unable to see their GP during normal GP hours.

Appointments can be made via Reception during our usual opening hours. Please note that patients cannot refer themselves to this service.

The service is staffed by local Suffolk GPs and Nurse Practitioners in Ipswich, Felixstowe, Stowmarket, Leiston and Wickham Market and is an NHS service delivered by the Suffolk GP Federation.

You will be given a booked appointment and will be seen by a suitable local GP or nurse who will have access to your medical records (once consent is given).

What if I need a special medical examination?

Telephone 01359 230252 and the receptionist will make an appointment for you. Each doctor has set appointment times for such examinations as they require more time than can be allocated during a normal surgery.

There may be a charge for some non-NHS examinations and reports.
